    Anticipation of another delightful vacation at Sanibel Arms West increases as we drive over the causeway to Sanibel. The view of the Gulf of America is spectacular with the lighthouse beckoning us with visions of morning walks while hunting for shells.

    Although our typical ocean view condo was still under construction due to hurricane damage, all of Sanibel Arms West condos are very welcoming with comfy furnishings and screened in lanais with ceiling fans. Their beautiful pool is also screened in, but we truthfully spent the majority of our time lounging on the beautiful Sanibel beach with occasional glimpses of dolphins and even a couple of manatees.

    A vacation in Sanibel is not complete without a tasty lunch at Gramma Dots and dinner at the Green Flash. The ambience at the Green Flash is so breathtaking we actually dined there three evenings! Breakfast at Over Easy cafe is always amazing with coffees to-go a must.

    We dined at the luxurious Sundial Beach Resort one evening and the view and meal were amazing! The Sundial is a fabulous resort for families with daily activities, a beautiful pool and shady gazebos.

    My Sanibel vacation wouldn’t be complete without a trip through Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge and I was fortunate to view an alligator (safely from my rental Jeep). They are still recovering from the hurricanes but Ding Darling offers a relaxing drive through wildlife in their natural habitat and views of Osprey nests along with a multitude of bird sightings.

    Jerry’s grocery has the most delectable crab cakes and stopping at the ice cream shop in that plaza is a must....along with shopping at Paw Pleasures.

    I could just drive non-stop down Periwinkle Way and Sanibel Captiva Road...the scenery is breathtaking for an Ohio native. We spotted a red fox and unfortunately no turtles during this trip, but the palm trees and other trees and shrubs are spectacular to view.
